Dear Dr. Aldarelli,

I am writing to express my interest in the Director of Communications and Policy position currently available at Edison Township Public Schools. As a current Principal and former Supervisor of Instruction at C. R. Applegate School, I believe my eleven years of experience as a school administrator, eight years as a teacher, and twelve plus years in business have prepared me for a position such as this.

Over the course of my professional career I have amassed a broad and diverse skill set that I believe would be of great value in this position. With a career that began in the business world with positions in public relations, marketing and advertising, and then transitioned to the education field as a teacher and later as a school administrator, I have had the benefit of successfully navigating careers in both the private and public sectors. Along each step of my path, I have consistently proven myself as a valued and trusted employee. I have developed strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; troubleshoot and problem solve with efficiency; hire, train, and manage staff; plan, develop, and facilitate professional development; address and manage staff and stakeholder concerns; and successfully tackle any challenge that may arise in the course of a given day.

During my years in public relations, marketing, and advertising I was responsible for all aspects of the daily communications of the organizations I worked with. I wrote and published corporate newsletters, brochures, press releases, as well as worked in print, video, broadcast radio, and social media platforms to develop, support, and achieve the goals and objectives of my former clients and organizations.

I am highly organized and always prepared to tackle any new task or challenge. I believe I possess outstanding analytical abilities, including the ability to separate the relevant from the irrelevant, the capacity for accurate observation and insightful feedback, originality and creativity of thought, and open-mindedness. I pride myself on being an extremely effective communicator and an empathetic listener who has the ability to clearly articulate my thoughts and ideas.
